Larijani dead? – Israel’s Defence Minister Katz alleges Iran’s security chief, Basij commander killed in overnight strikes

Defence Minister Israel Katz claimed the IDF had killed Iran’s National Security Council’s Secretary Ali Larijani and others in overnight strikes on Monday into Tuesday.

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I have instructed the IDF to continue hunting the leadership of the terror and repression regime in Iran, and to repeatedly sever the head of the octopus and not allow it to grow,” he said.

“I was just updated by the Chief of Staff that the Secretary of the National Security Council, Larijani, and the head of the Basij—the central repression body of Iran—[Gholamreza] Soliemani, were eliminated last night.”

Iran has not commented on either claim at time of publication.

The US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region. The conflict soon widened to Israel and Hezbollah trading strikes across the border with Lebanon too.

According to the most recent figures, the Iranian side has reported over 1,400 dead, with 13 deaths of military personnel admitted by the US side and up to 15 on the Israeli side.
