President Emmanuel Macron couldn’t resist doing the ‘Kamehameha’ pose from the Dragon Ball anime series as he wrapped up his presser with JapanesE PM Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo on Wednesday.

Footage shows them doing the famous stance to laughter from reporters.

Macron used the briefing to back a ceasefire in the Middle East amid the ongoing Iran conflict -amid intense criticism from Donald Trump.

“First and foremost, we believe together in international law, in the international order based on the United Nations Charter. We also believe in the democratic values that we defend. That is why, as you just reminded us, we both advocate for a return to peace, a ceasefire, calm, and free movement through the Strait of Hormuz,” Macron said.

“It is also the fact that since February 2022, Japan has consistently stood alongside Europeans to recall the importance of a just and lasting peace and respect for international law. This is also what binds us in an Indo-Pacific strategy. France, indeed, through its overseas territories and its military presence, is present in this region,” he added.

On Tuesday, Trump said France had been ‘very unhelpful’ on Iran because they ‘wouldn’t let planes headed to Israel, loaded up with military supplies, fly over French territory’.

He again condemned his so-called allies for not helping him secure the Strait of Hormuz: “All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.”

You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!” he told them.

Tehran has said the Strait “is open to friends and non-hostile countries, but closed to enemies and those who collaborate with them”.

Macron is on a three-day visit to Japan, where he is expected to meet Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako on Thursday. He will then head to South Korea at the invitation of President Lee Jae-myung for a state visit on April 3.
