School Attack Aftermath
Relatives of the young victims of the Minab school attack rejected US claims that the site was an ‘active Iranian Revolutionary Guard cruise missile base’ – as footage revealed rare access to the location in southern Iran on Thursday.

It shows extensive damage to Al-Shajara Al-Tayyiba School, where around 170 people, including children, were killed at the start of the conflict. One parent, whose child was killed in the attack, demanded justice and denied that the school had any military connection.
“They were not military personnel. They had no weapons. They were not at a military site. They were innocent and defenceless children,” she said.
Families Reject Claims
She said many of the victims’ bodies were recovered only after 24 hours and were no longer recognisable.
“What sin had they committed to be killed?! They were students of all ages, from pre-school children to older pupils, as well as teachers, drivers and parents,” she added.

Iran blamed the United States and Israel for the strike. Israel said it was unaware of any operations in the area.
On May 19, US Central Command chief General Brad Cooper described the investigation as ‘complex,’ saying the school was located inside an active cruise missile base belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Regional Tensions Continue
He said the incident was “more complicated than an ordinary attack” and pledged transparency once the investigation was complete.
The United States has denied deliberately targeting civilians. US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said investigations were still ongoing, while White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the findings would be accepted and not prejudged.

The United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28. Iran later responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US assets in the region. A fragile ceasefire is in place, with talks via Pakistani mediators reportedly ongoing.
Iran imposed restrictions on ‘unfriendly’ traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, while the US Navy maintained its blockade on Iranian ports.
