Fans Fill Federation Square
Thousands of Australian football fans packed Melbourne’s Federation Square on Sunday to witness the Socceroos’ 2-0 win over Turkey at the World Cup.

Footage shows supporters filling the square in green and gold, waving flags and wearing team merchandise as they followed the action on giant screens. The crowd erupted at full-time, with fans chanting and celebrating long after the final whistle.
“The first half performance was great, I’d say, but we just need to park the bus now. It was a great goal from Irankunda, and let’s just keep going,” a fan said after the opening 45 minutes.
Australia Secures Victory
Australia took the lead through Nestory Irankunda in the 27th minute before Connor Metcalfe sealed the victory with a well-taken second goal in Vancouver on Saturday local time.

The win leaves the Socceroos second in Group D, behind hosts the United States on goal difference, while Turkey sits third ahead of Paraguay after the opening round of fixtures.
Turkey face Paraguay in San Francisco on June 19, while Australia meet the United States in Seattle the same day in what could prove a decisive clash at the top of the group.
