Russian Strikes Reported
The Russian Armed Forces struck UAV command centres in the Kharkov region and hit energy infrastructure facilities being used by the enemy in the Kiev, Sumy, and Chernigov regions of Ukraine, as well as in the part of the DPR occupied by the AFU, in footage released by the defence ministry.

“FAB-500 aerial bombs wiped out a UAV command post of the 4th Separate Rapid Reaction Brigade of the national guard of Ukraine close to Svetloye; a LMUR Kh-39 aircraft missile hit a command post of the 115th Separate Mobile Brigade of the AFU near Nizhnyaya Zhuravka,” the Defence Ministry added.
Ukraine Reports Attacks
In its operational update, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that the Russian Armed Forces carried out 56 airstrikes, dropped 163 guided bombs, and deployed 6,373 drones over the past 24 hours.
War Background Explained
Moscow launched its military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022, after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Russia claimed Kiev had failed to guarantee its special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and demanded Ukraine declare itself officially neutral and rule out joining NATO.

Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed martial law across the country and announced a general mobilisation, while the EU and US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
