Leavitt Steps Down
Karoline Leavitt, the youngest-ever White House press secretary, sensationally stepped down on Wednesday.
Footage shows some of her most viral moments, rowing with reporters and defending her boss Donald Trump. Among them include her giving Associated Press a lesson in economics, telling CNN they were ‘disingenuous’ and obsessed with making the president ‘look bad’, and, in one huge exchange, slapping down a reporter who took her on about a fatal shooting by immigration agents.
“You’re a left-wing hack. You’re not a reporter. You’re posing in this room as a journalist… you shouldn’t even be sitting in that seat!” she raged.

Key political highlights include one of her first moments at the podium – accusing the former Biden administration of ‘spending money like drunken sailors’. She is also seen immediately after THAT moment when Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky was thrown out the White House, after a fierce row with Trump and VP JD Vance:
“Unfortunately for Zelensky, I think he refuses to recognise the practical reality of this war,” she said. “His countrymen are dying, and the people who have been funding this effort, the American people, are sick and tired of footing this bill. So it’s a much different situation for him than it was three years ago. And as President Trump said today, he doesn’t have any cards. The cards are not in his favour,” she said.
Viral Press Moments
Leavitt covered the alleged Minab girls school strike in Iran – cautioning reporters against ‘pointing the finger’ – described UK state broadcaster the BBC as a ‘leftist propaganda machine’, and even found time to field questions on alien life.
“The President has a prepared speech on this issue that he plans to deliver at the right time. Is that true, and does the Trump administration believe aliens are real?” she was asked.

“Well, a speech on aliens would be news to me. That sounds very exciting, though!” she quipped.
Trump himself praised one of his ‘most trusted aides’ – who became his press secretary just last year at the age of 27 – and said it was a move ‘I totally understand and respect’.
New Life Chapter
Leavitt, who gave birth to her second child – a baby girl called Viviana – in May, wrote on social media: “Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least,” she wrote.”
“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary – and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life,” she added.

Her successor has not been announced at time of publication. Leavitt served in the first Trump administration as a speech writer and assistant press secretary. She also ran for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022, losing to Democrat Chris Pappas.
