Military option still ON! – Trump insists economic pressure on Iran does NOT signal shift in US war approach, claims Tehran ‘would love to make a deal’

Trump Keeps Iran Action Option

US President Donald Trump said military action against Iran remained on the table on Friday, despite Washington shifting its focus towards tightening economic pressure on Tehran.

“They have no money. They have no navy. They have no air force. They are not paying their soldiers. They’re not paying their police. They have 350 percent inflation. So we’re just going to sort of see what happens,” he said.

Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington, Trump also claimed the US had ‘total control’ of the region around the Strait of Hormuz, where American forces are enforcing a blockade targeting shipping linked to Iran.

“We have total control, as you know, of the border; we have total control. If you look at the blockade, we have total control of that entire region, having to do with the Strait of Hormuz, and that means well into it, the land areas. So they would love to make a deal, but they’re not ready to make the right deal, in my opinion,” he said.

Economic Pressure Increases

Trump’s comments followed his threat of what he called an ‘economic D-Day’ against Iran, including tougher sanctions and penalties against countries and companies continuing to do business with Tehran. Vice President JD Vance said this week the conflict had entered a ‘new phase’, with economic pressure now Washington’s most effective tool.

Tehran has rejected the latest US pressure campaign, arguing that further sanctions will not force it to change course. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for an end to the conflict from what he described as a position of strength.

Strait Of Hormuz Tensions

The US-Iran conflict is approaching the six-month mark, with failed ceasefire efforts and restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continuing to disrupt one of the world’s most important energy routes.

Before the war, roughly a fifth of global oil flows and LNG trade passed through the strait.
