US CEOs Meet Li
Chinese Premier Li Qiang met top US business leaders in Beijing on Thursday, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang – on the sidelines of the Trump-Xi summit.

It also appeared to be further evidence that Musk – who had a famous falling out with Donald Trump – was firmly back in the fold.
During the meeting, Li encouraged US companies to continue investing in China and said Beijing would further open its market to foreign-funded businesses, according to Chinese state media.
Trump Musk Reconcile
Trump and Musk appeared to fall out last June over the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ which Musk argued had undone his cost cutting work at DOGE.

Trump suggested Elon was angry about the removal of electric vehicle subsidies, and the two had a spate of furious online ‘rows’ – before appearing to reconcile a little last September.
AI Tensions Continue
NVIDIA’s participation is particularly notable as advanced AI chips continue to be at the centre of US-China tensions over export controls and competition. Makers are reportedly hoping that the US will lift export restrictions on sales of the tech to China going forward.

Trump arrived in China for a three-day visit from May 13 to 15. It marks his second state visit to the country and first for a US president since 2017. It was delayed from April at the Americans’ request due to the Iran war.
