Kuala Lumpur is often praised for its warm hospitality and rich cultural experiences, but a recent visit by Japanese-American adult film star Rae Lil Black, real name Kae Asakura, revealed a different side of the city. What started as a cultural exploration took a dark turn when Rae encountered a stalker during her stay.
Embracing Malaysian Culture
Rae Lil Black first announced her plans to visit Malaysia back in August 2024. True to her word, she touched down in Kuala Lumpur and took to social media to share her experiences with her 1.5 million fans.

One of the most notable moments was her visit to Dataran Merdeka, where she embraced local fashion by wearing a hijab, much to the delight of her followers for showing respect for local customs.

While her interaction with locals seemed to go smoothly, Rae’s trip was far from perfect.
The Unsettling Incident
On 28 September 2024, Rae took to her X account to reveal a frightening experience that occurred during her stay in Kuala Lumpur.
In her post, she shared that several people stalked her, and in one instance, one even grabbed her. “I thought KL is a safe city, but it’s very funny I thought so,” she wrote.

Many of her fans, including locals, flooded the comment section to apologise for her unpleasant experience.

One commenter reassured her that only certain areas in the country are deemed not safe.

While another humorously joked while telling her which area of the male body parts are their “weak spots”.

However, Rae’s post has raised concerns about the safety of tourists, particularly female travelers, in the bustling capital city.
Despite Setbacks, Rae Continues Exploring
Despite the unsettling event, Rae has not allowed it to overshadow her trip completely. She was seen enjoying the local cuisine at a Mamak restaurant, even trying the famous Nasi Kandar, eating with her hands just like the locals do.

Although her posts about Malaysia remain largely positive, however, Rae’s post on the incident has raised concerns about the safety of tourists, particularly female travelers, in the bustling capital city.
Tourist Safety: A Growing Concern
While Kuala Lumpur is widely regarded as a safe destination for travelers, incidents like Rae Lil Black’s experience bring to light a growing concern about tourist safety. In recent years, there have been reports of petty crimes such as pickpocketing and harassment, especially in crowded areas. Tourists are often advised to remain vigilant and avoid certain locations after dark.
Rae’s unfortunate encounter is a reminder for travelers, both local and international, to stay cautious during their adventures.
