The world is transforming rapidly and a large number of the population are rendered homeless. Families are escaping with minimal as violence, wars and political issues are forcefully driving them out.

Most of them have to go a long way in the hope to secure a safe place to settle. Organizations such as the United Nations are attempting to assist such individuals in hardship periods.

A Journey Away From Danger

Antoni Guterres has recently been to Lebanon in Beirut. In the course of his visit, he came across numerous families who had fled out of conflict regions. He heard their stories and talked of how good civilians need to be guarded. There are a lot of such individuals, who lost all their goods and are now attempting to build their life out of nothing.

The case in Sudan is also quite severe. Millions of people have displaced their homes after years of fights. People are forced to find food and shelter in families. One woman told about how she crossed the border in order to live. Through the assistance of the aid workers, she eventually got a safe place to live and resumed life.

Fights Go on Every Single Day

Children are one of the most hit by such crises. In Gaza, there are lots of children who require urgent assistance. They need food, clean water, and medicine in order to survive. Non-governmental organizations like UNICEF are doing their best, yet it is not simple to aid people due to the current conflict.

The other increasing issue is the waste and pollution in war regions. In certain areas, rubbish has littered the streets posing tremendous health hazards. The United Nations Development Programme is assisting in the removal of waste with the usage of heavy machines. This has to be done to avoid the spread of diseases within families.

Meanwhile, the World Food Programme is still feeding the needy people. Nevertheless, they argue that more funding and support is needed to reach all hungry people.

Despite the fact that the situation is still challenging, attempts are still being made in most regions. International organizations along with the local communities are collaborating in a bid to address the increasing population seeking safety.

During his visit to Beirut, UN Secretary-General António Guterres met with some of the hundreds of thousands of people fleeing the war in Lebanon. Deeply saddended by their heartbreaking stories, he stressed once again: Civilians are NotATarget.
