Victim sought help from aunt after feeling unsafe at home.
Incident Took Place at Family Home in Johor
A 47-year-old widower was sentenced to two years in prison and two strokes of caning after he admitted to engaging in “inappropriate communication” with his teenage daughter, who is 14 years old.
The offence occurred on Monday, 16 June 2025, at a home in Batu Pahat, Johor, at around 4 pm, Free Malaysia Today reported.
Victim Reached Out for Help Before Incident
According to reports, the victim had earlier confided in her aunt, expressing fear about staying with her father.
On the day of the incident, she reportedly left his room after declining his advances and requests.
Worried for the teen’s safety, the aunt immediately arranged for her own child to pick the teen up from the father’s house.
Suspect: A Self-Employed Widower Pleaded Guilty
The man, who is self-employed and a widower, entered a guilty plea at the Muar Sessions Court, according to Harian Metro.

The suspect appeared in court without legal representation.
Prosecuted Under the Child Protection Act
The charge was filed under Section 11(1)(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which prohibits sexual communication with minors.
Due to the suspect’s role as the victim’s biological father, the charge also falls under Section 16 of the same act, which imposes heavier penalties on those in positions of trust.

Convictions under these provisions can result in imprisonment of up to five years and two strokes of caning.
