Footage shows Modi greeting Takaichi in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, before the two leaders inspect a guard of honour. They are later seen at Hyderabad House for bilateral and delegation-level talks.

Key Agreements Signed

After the ceremonial reception, the two leaders oversaw the exchange of agreements at the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the two sides agreed to deepen cooperation, signing three ‘landmark’ agreements covering economic security, artificial intelligence and energy resilience.

Stronger Future Partnership

This is Takaichi’s first official visit to India since becoming Japan’s prime minister.

Japan is one of India’s biggest foreign investors and a key strategic partner for New Delhi in the Indo-Pacific. India is seeking 10 trillion yen in Japanese investment over the next decade, while also looking to double the number of Japanese companies operating in the country.
