Deadly Train Collision
At least four people were killed and 38 others were injured when two trains collided at Bekasi Timur Station, which is located around 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) from Jakarta, on Monday.

The accident took place when the long-distance Argo Bromo train bound for Jakarta-Surabaya entered the track of the nearby KRL commuter line, with the impacts leaving dozens of passengers trapped inside carriages.
Rescue Efforts Ongoing
Footage shows ambulances lined up outside the train station as rescue and emergency workers rush to look for victims trapped in the damaged coaches. Rescue workers can be seen transporting a victim to the hospital. Meanwhile, passengers sit outside the train station in shock.

“Everyone was panicking,” said passenger Desy. “At first, we were panicking because we were afraid our train would crash into the car in front of us, but then we got hit from behind too – bam! Everyone was in shock.”
Crash Cause Details
The accident began when an electric train broke down at the level crossing (JPL) near Bulak Kapal. This caused the KRL to stop, and the Argo Bromo Anggrok train behind it eventually collided with it.

“At first, the commuter train hit an online taxi. Just as the train came to a stop, it was immediately hit again. This time by another train,” said Fahmi Oemar, an eyewitness.
The rescue and recovery process is still ongoing, with emergency personnel evacuating the injured to nearby hospitals.
