Moscow Visit Begins
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he trip to Moscow was “an opportune moment to discuss the latest developments in the war, to consult with our Russian friends on current events, and to review the latest situation together” as he landed in St Petersburg on Monday.

He is scheduled to hold talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and is on the third leg of his foreign tour, after Pakistan and Oman.
Criticism of US
Araghchi also took aim at the United States amid stalled talks.
“The US approach caused the previous round of talks, despite the progress made, to fall short of its goals,” he said. “The Americans’ excessive demands and flawed approach made it necessary for us to consult with and review the latest situation with our friends in Pakistan.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister held talks in Islamabad and Muscat. On Friday, the White House said its envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman – and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner – would also go to Pakistan, but Trump himself said he had cancelled it: “
Ceasefire and Talks
“We have all the cards, they have none! If they want to talk, all they have to do is call!!!” the president wrote on social media.
Earlier this week, Trump said he was extending the ceasefire – set to expire Wednesday – “until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal.”
The US and Iran agreed a two-week ceasefire on April 8, following five and a half weeks of fighting – and a global energy crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides have accused each other of violating the truce. Talks were held in Islamabad on April 11-12 with no breakthrough.
