Fans Back El Tri
Mexican fans in City of Mexico supported the national team despite their 3-2 loss to England in the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
Footage shows fans in high spirits watching the game next to the Angel of Independence, before the defeat made them heartbroken.

“I was really hopeful, specially because of all the hype that was built up, the coincidences, and the ‘what if…?’, and what about this guy who said that we were going to win in 2026… I was very excited about the team and everything, but yeah, I’m sad and proud. It’s kind of weird to explain,” said Ariel Alejandro, a local fan.
England Ends Dream
Despite being reduced to 10 men following a red card, England held on to defeat Mexico 3-2 in a thrilling last-16 encounter, eliminating the tournament co-host after its deepest World Cup advance in decades.

Four teams have reached the quarter-finals, including England, with the remaining places to be decided in the upcoming matches.
Pride Despite Defeat
Despite the defeat, El Tri captivated home fans with a spirited tournament that reignited belief in the national team and marked one of the country’s most memorable World Cup campaigns.
