Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israeli will continue to strike Lebanon and Iran, while US President Donald Trump’s believes that the war goals can be achieved through an agreement.

“I spoke with our friend, President Trump. President Trump believes there is a chance to leverage the tremendous achievements of the IDF. and the United States military in order to achieve the goals of the war through an agreement that will protect our vital interests,” Netanyahu stated on Monday.

“At the same time, we continue to strike in both Iran and Lebanon. We are crushing the missile program and the nuclear program, and we continue to strike Hezbollah hard,” he added.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump told the media on the same day that “discussions [with Iran] took place yesterday. They went into yesterday evening. They want very much to make a deal. We’d like to make a deal too.”

“We’re going to get together today by probably phone because it’s very hard to find a country. It’s very hard for them to get out, I guess. But we’ll at some point very, very soon meet,” Trump added.

Iran’s foreign ministry denied talks had taken place.

Trump also said via social media earlier that he was postponing attacks on Iranian power plants for ‘five days’. On Saturday, he gave Iran a 48-hour ‘deadline’ to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, or he would ‘obliterate’ the country’s ‘power plants’, and would start with ‘the biggest one first’.

The US president previously condemned his NATO allies for failing to help him secure the Strait of Hormuz, after energy prices soared worldwide. Tehran has said the Strait “is open to friends and non-hostile countries, but closed to enemies and those who collaborate with them.”
