Typhoon Hits Guangdong
Typhoon Noul made landfall in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, early Sunday, bringing torrential rain, strong winds and rough seas as authorities raised emergency response levels across the province.
Footage shows powerful gusts and heavy rain battering sites including a power station, while large waves crash along the coastline. Despite the severe weather, power station staff remained at their posts, closely monitoring the typhoon through surveillance screens as rain repeatedly lashed the cameras, at times obscuring visibility.
According to authorities, Typhoon Noul, the 12th of the year, came ashore in Huizhou early Sunday, bringing destructive weather to Guangdong and neighbouring Fujian Province.
Emergency Response Activated
The landfall point was approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) from the Huizhou Power Station.
As the typhoon made landfall, Guangdong authorities upgraded the province’s disaster relief emergency response to its third-highest level, with emergency services remaining on alert as heavy rain and strong winds continue to affect southern China.
