Israeli Airstrikes Intensify

The Israeli army launched airstrikes on the cities of Tyre and Nabatieh on Tuesday, according to Lebanese media.

One of the strikes reportedly left two civil defence personnel dead and left one injured in Nabatieh.

Footage captured in Tyre shows airstrikes on the Al-Hosh area, as well as the towns of Al-Bazouriya and Deir Qanoun Ras al-Ain. The video also shows the aftermath of the airstrike that killed two civil defence personnel in Nabatieh.

“Whilst we were looking for another vehicle to transport the injured man to hospital. We were shocked that a missile struck the men. They were martyred,” said Hussein Daqdouk, head of the Lebanese Civil Defence centre in Nabatieh.

Civil Defence Deaths

Lebanese media reported Israeli airstrikes on the towns of ‘Ras al-Ain and al-Bazouriya and the al-Hosh area in Tyre’, adding that two members of the Civil Defence from the Nabatieh Regional Centre were killed in an Israeli airstrike.

The General Directorate of the Lebanese Civil Defence said two of its members were killed “whilst carrying out their humanitarian duty to rescue a casualty of a hostile airstrike” in Nabatieh.

Earlier today, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee warned residents of ‘Arzoun, Tair Daba, Bazouriyeh and Al-Hosh’ to “evacuate their homes immediately and move at least 1,000 metres away from the villages and towns into open terrain.”

Ceasefire Tensions Continue

On April 15, US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, and on April 23 confirmed its extension for three weeks, following direct talks hosted by Washington between Lebanese and Israeli officials.

Israel has designated what is known as the ‘Yellow Line’ in southern Lebanon to prevent residents from returning to areas under its control, in a repeat of a tactic previously used in Gaza.

Security Zone Plans

Israel has urged residents of around 80 towns in southern Lebanon not to return to their homes, stating that it continues to maintain a presence to counter what it describes as ‘terrorist activities’.

Israel has indicated plans to establish a ‘security zone’ within Lebanon, extending from the border to the Litani River and covering around 10% of Lebanese territory.
