Election Victory Confirmed
Keiko Fujimori, of Fuerza Popular, gave her first statement to the press from the party’s headquarters in San Isidro after being proclaimed president-elect of Peru by the National Jury of Elections, with a margin of 49,641 votes over Roberto Sanchez.
The politician said from Lima on Friday that although ‘the transfer of power is on July 28’, her team would begin work on the ‘transition process’.

Beyond the joy of this result. We are not going to wait one more minute because we are here to solve the country’s problems and begin making decisions. That is why we have decided to set up the office of the president-elect, which I will lead together with the team accompanying me today,” she added.
Promises New Leadership
Fujimori said she was making herself available to Peruvians from Friday and said she would carry out her work as president ‘with responsibility, humility, and a deep sense of service’.
“Today a new stage begins for Peru, a stage of responsibility, dialogue, and results. A stage to restore confidence in our institutions and once again put the state at the service of the people,” she said, calling on citizens to build “together a safer, more prosperous, and more united country.”

Outside the Fuerza Popular headquarters, supporters of the president-elect celebrated, chanting slogans including ‘Here are the Fujimoristas from the heart’ and ‘Terrorism never again’.
Supporters Celebrate Victory
“The first female president elected by the people. The first female president who has won through democracy. And she is the winner and she is our president, and for that reason we are here to pay tribute to her,” said supporter Wilder Gonzales.
A second Keiko supporter said she hoped the president-elect would govern in a similar way to her father, Alberto Fujimori, who led Peru from 1990 to 2000.

“The Fujimoris gave us ten years of the very best government, and I believe Keiko will continue that, and she will do it much better than her father,” she added.
With this proclamation, Fujimori reaches the presidency on her fourth electoral attempt, following the campaigns of 2011, 2016 and 2021.
