Final Respects Paid
Iran’s top leadership paid their respects at the coffins of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and family members – including 14-month-old granddaughter, Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani – on Friday, ahead of the multi-day farewell events.
Footage shows the tiny coffin alongside the larger caskets. President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Head of the Judiciary Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and Major General Mohsen Rezaei are seen in the footage, with the top leaders seen in tears.

The ceremonies are scheduled to begin on July 4 at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in the capital, Tehran, where mourners are expected to gather over two days to pay their respects. Iranian authorities have set up accommodation in mosques, stadiums, parks, and temporary camps.
Funeral Ceremonies Planned
A public funeral procession is scheduled for July 6, after which the ceremonies will move to the city of Qom on July 7. The funeral is set to conclude with Khamenei’s burial at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad on July 9.

Official delegations and religious figures from more than 90 countries are expected to attend the ceremonies, including Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as well as senior representatives from Russia, China, India, and Iraq.
Successor Named Officially
Khamenei and family members including Zahra were killed on the first day of the US and Israeli attacks which sparked the latest Iran war.

Tehran confirmed the death of the Supreme Leader and named his son, Mojtaba, as his successor.
