Public Funeral Procession
Crowds of Iranians took part in a public funeral procession for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the streets of Tehran on Monday.
Footage shows crowds surrounding the lorry carrying the body of the late Supreme Leader, as well as the remains of several members of his family.
“Today we have come to give him [Iran’s late leader] our last words. Today we have come to tell him that his path will continue forever,” said funeral goer Amir Reza.

Others condemned the circumstances of the killing of Iran’s leader and urged the authorities to seek revenge.
“We can’t speak to them [enemies of Iran] because we went to negotiate several times and they eventually martyred our man,” said fellow funeral goer Sumaya. “Our only dialogue with them should be through war, because they do not understand us in any way.”
Procession Across Cities
Iranian media reported that ‘millions of people’ took part in the funeral procession.
Reports noted that the funeral procession began at 06.00 local time (02:30 AM GMT) on Damavand Street in eastern Tehran, before proceeding towards Imam Hussein Square and then Revolution Square, on to Azadi Square in western Tehran, and then towards the Shahid Leshkari Expressway on the western side of the city.

The bodies will be transported to the city of Qom, and then to Iraq, where ceremonies will be held in the cities of Najaf and Karbala, before the burials will take place in the city of Mashhad in north-eastern Iran on Thursday.
Funeral Continues Nationwide
This marks the fourth day of Khamenei’s extended funeral proceedings, which will run until July 9.
The United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28, and Tehran subsequently confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day of the air strikes, appointing his son Mojtaba as his successor.
