Fans Express Anger
Atletico Madrid fans reacted with anger and disappointment after Julian Alvarez said he wants to leave the club, with some accusing the Argentine striker of betrayal despite being under contract until 2030.

“It hurts because he’s been treated very well here. He went through a three-month goal drought and nobody criticised him,” one supporter said. “These kinds of statements are painful.”
“He’s a rat, absolutely. Worse than that. He has no word,” another fan said. “I don’t want to see this player wearing the Atletico de Madrid shirt.”
Mixed Fan Reactions
Others struck a more understanding tone.

“Every player has the right to be unhappy and want to leave,” one supporter said. “But if you have a contract, you should honour it. I’m disappointed because we supported him when he was struggling.”
Transfer Exit Reports
Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in 2024. According to media reports, Alvarez seeks to leave Atletico ‘to fulfil his dream’ and said that he believes a transfer would be in everyone’s best interest.

He is currently playing for Argentina at the FIFA Club World Cup.
