Deadly Bangkok Bar Fire
Rescue teams recovered bodies after a fire tore through a crowded live-music bar in northern Bangkok shortly before midnight on Sunday, killing at least 27 people.
Footage filmed early on Monday shows more than a dozen covered bodies lying at the scene, as members of the Poh Teck Tung Foundation carry victims from the site.
Authorities said at least nine men and 18 women were killed. Another 73 people were injured, including 25 who were sent to intensive care.
Victims Trapped Inside
Many of the victims were found in windowless toilets at the back of the venue, where they are believed to have fled as flames and thick smoke spread through the building.
Fire Investigation Begins
The fire broke out at the Rong Beer Na Ladprao venue in the capital’s Chatuchak district at around midnight and was brought under control about half an hour later. The cause remains under investigation.
