Cooling Mist Installed
Residential rooftops in northern China are spraying clouds of mist into the summer heat, as communities look for ways to keep residents cool.
Footage captured on Friday shows high-rises in Yuncheng releasing a fine spray of water from rooftop misting systems, drifting around the buildings and cooling the air.

A property manager said the system runs for around 10 minutes on weekend afternoons, helping to lower the perceived temperature and “enhance the living experience for residents” in the community.
Residents Welcome Innovation
“It felt really nice. It was cool and purified the air. The temperature felt about four or five degrees lower than outside, and the environment was pleasant too,” one resident commented.
“Seeing that this sprinkler system in our community has received so many likes from international netizens makes me feel quite proud,” added a second.

The system was installed by the residential complex to make daily life more comfortable during spells of intense heat.
Heatwave Sparks Interest
It comes as much of Europe baked in an intense heatwave, with huge criticism of the Western bloc’s antiquated infrastructure – which saw offices and homes swelter and public transport grind to a halt.
More than 2,000 excess deaths have been reportedly linked to the recent heatwave in France and Spain, while forecasters have warned another spell of extreme temperatures could be on the way.
