United Against Fascism
Chinese President Xi Jinping said that Moscow and Beijing were united against distortions of history in relation to WW2, and in opposing the ‘resurgence of fascism’, following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday in Beijing.

“As permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and Russia will resolutely demonstrate a sense of duty as responsible world powers, defend the authority of the UN and international justice, counter all forms of unilateralism and hegemony, and attempts to turn back the clock of history, above all provocative actions aimed at denying the outcome of the Second World War and resurgence the trappings of fascism and militarism. We are ready to work shoulder to shoulder to build a fairer and more rational system of global governance,” Xi Jinping noted.
Economic Cooperation Highlighted
He also spoke of the successful economic co-operation between the two countries.
“We have been constantly impressed by the breakthrough progress and significant results of our multifaceted bilateral co-operation. So, for the third consecutive year, the volume of bilateral trade has exceeded the 200 billion dollar mark.

Despite far from easy external conditions, trade turnover for January-April this year grew by approximately 20 percent, which was no mean feat.

We should capitalise on this positive momentum and deepen co-operation in aligning China’s five-year plan with Russia’s national development goals for the period up to 2030,” the president emphasised.
Putin’s Visit Agenda
Putin’s visit comes on May 19-20. The Russian delegation includes deputy prime ministers, ministers and heads of major companies, with discussions on the economy, technology, all kinds of bilateral relations – and signed 42 separate documents.
