Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un and his daughter, Ju Ae – widely tipped to be his successor- sat down for a meal with the crew of the Choe Hyon during a final readiness inspection of the nation’s most advanced destroyer on Thursday.
The high-profile visit served as the final sign-off for the 5,000-ton warship, with Kim issuing a strict directive for the vessel to be commissioned and delivered to the navy by mid-June.
Stills released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Friday show Kim and daughter flanked by officials, inspecting the destroyer’s deck, weapons system control room, and other operational areas ahead of its expedited delivery in June this year.

Pyongyang reportedly plans to deploy these advanced artillery units along the border with the Republic of Korea (ROK) by the end of the year, significantly bolstering its strike range against neighbouring territory.
