Protests Continue Nationwide
Thousands of Cockroach Janta Party supporters continued their protest in New Delhi on Thursday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised fast-track courts for cases involving examination paper leaks.
Footage shows protesters chanting while carrying Indian flags and placards as police units monitor the rally.
On his X post Modi praised ‘welfare and future’ of the Indian youth announcing government’s decision to “ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks.”
“This continues our series of steps for safeguarding the interests of students. Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared,” Modi wrote.
Students Demand Accountability
The youth-led movement has demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged leaks affecting national entrance examinations, including the medical entrance test NEET.
CJP representatives said the announcement did not address why examination papers continued to be leaked or satisfy their demand for political accountability.
Movement Gains Momentum
Thursday’s demonstration at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar followed confrontations earlier in the week, when police used tear gas and batons as protesters attempted to march towards parliament.
The CJP began as a satirical online campaign before developing into a wider protest movement focused on examination reform, employment and opportunities for India’s young people.
