Fan Zone Celebrations
Celebrations erupted at a fan zone in Madrid after Spain defeated Belgium 2-1 to reach the FIFA World Cup semi-finals for the first time since the country lifted the trophy in 2010.
Footage shows a sea of red packed tightly together, watching every moment of the quarter-final. The crowd erupts at the final whistle, with fans jumping, singing and roaring in celebration.

“Magnificent, magnificent. The match, super exciting here in Colon. F*cking great atmosphere and super happy,” one fan said.
“The match was incredible, but we beat France at the Euros and we’ll beat them again here,” another added.
Spain Beats Belgium
Spain took the lead at Los Angeles Stadium in the 30th minute. Thibaut Courtois saved Dani Olmo’s first-time effort, but Fabian Ruiz reacted quickly to score from the rebound.
Belgium struck back in the 41st minute when Charles De Ketelaere beat Pau Cubarsi to Timothy Castagne’s cross and headed past Unai Simon. Courtois was later forced off with an injury in the second half.

Spain’s substitute Merino then delivered the winner in the 88th minute, just two minutes after coming on.
The European champions will now face France in the semi-final in Arlington, Texas, on July 14.
