Trump Denies FIFA Talks
Donald Trump said he hadn’t spoken to FIFA President Gianni Infantino about the proposed sell-off of the body, as he met with his cabinet at Camp David on Friday.
“Did FIFA or Mr. Infantino speak to you about their proposal to sell a stake in the World Cup?” he was asked.
“No,” he replied.
Trump has been close to Infantino before and during the recent World Cup.
FIFA Deal Faces Backlash
The proposal to sell stakes in football competitions to private investors has seen UEFA threaten to boycott the World Cup – and the resignation today of Infantino’s senior advisor Carlos Cordeiro who called it a ‘bad deal’.
