Missiles And Drones Intercepted

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Saturday that its forces struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and Qeshm Island after intercepting multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones allegedly launched toward the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf states.

Footage released by CENTCOM on Saturday shows missiles striking the alleged radar positions. The exact date of the video could not be independently verified.

According to the command, Iran launched seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain hours after US forces shot down four ‘Iranian one-way attack drones’ headed toward the Strait of Hormuz.

US Launches Response

“The attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic,” CENTCOM said in a statement on X. “US forces subsequently struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further maritime attacks.”

“CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and postured to continue responding to unwarranted Iranian aggression in self-defence,” the statement added.

Initial assessments indicated that six of the seven missiles were intercepted, while the seventh failed to reach its intended target. CENTCOM said there were no immediate reports of injuries among US personnel.

The Kuwaiti military confirmed that national air defence systems intercepted incoming ‘hostile’ missile and drone threats early on Saturday. The US and Bahrain also rejected Iranian claims that its attacks had damaged the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet.

Tensions Continue Rising

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted US military facilities in the region in response to recent American strikes. The IRGC also claimed it fired on four tankers attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz without Iranian permission.

The exchange marks a further deterioration in relations between Tehran and Washington despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 8. Diplomatic talks between the two sides have continued in recent weeks, but have yet to produce a broader agreement.
