Strait Tensions Continue

Freight ships and oil tankers were seen anchored in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, May 10, as tensions remained high between the US and Iran.

The footage was recorded shortly after Iran submitted its response to the latest US proposal aimed at ending the war, with Pakistan acting as mediator.

US President Donald Trump later rejected Tehran’s response, calling it ‘totally unacceptable’ and ‘garbage’, and warned that the ceasefire was on ‘life support’.

Iran Responds Proposal

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Tehran had been ‘generous’ in its position, and was seeking an end to the war, the lifting of sanctions and the US naval blockade, as well as the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad.

The United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran on February 28, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was later named as his successor.

Ceasefire Talks Collapse

On April 8, Trump announced a temporary ceasefire with Iran to allow negotiations aimed at ending the conflict. Talks later took place in Islamabad, but ended without an agreement.

Since then, the Strait of Hormuz has remained a central flashpoint, with Iran restricting traffic through the waterway and the United States maintaining pressure on Iranian ports and shipping.
