‘Innocent people are being slaughtered AGAIN!’ – Hundreds rally in London condemning joint US-Israel strikes on Iran

Hundreds of protesters gathered in London on Saturday, demanding an immediate end to joint US-Israeli military operations in Iran, as tensions in the region escalated following a series of strikes and retaliatory attacks.

Footage shows crowds gathering outside the Houses of Parliament, holding signs reading ‘Stop Trump’s war’, ‘No to US-Israel aggression’, and ‘No bombs on Iran’, as demonstrators chanted and waved Iranian flags.

“Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, you have started a conflict in the Middle East yet again, which has already, in its first few hours, spread because of the Iranian response to missile attacks on American bases in Bahrain and Qatar. It’s very likely to spread beyond that. So it’s a very, very serious situation,” said John Rees from Stop the War Coalition.

“There was also a negotiation still going on. Iran was still in talks, and why on earth has this happened?” added protester Richard.

Some activists urged the British government to denounce the military strikes on Tehran and call for an end to the attacks.

“We’re here to say to the British government, first of all, stay out of this,” continued Rees. “The British government needs to move a lot more quickly than they ever did over a Gaza, to realise that it’s going to have to change position.”

“Why has [the attack] gone unnoticed? Why isn’t Parliament being called back into an emergency session to talk about this? You know, innocent people are being slaughtered again. This is absolutely appalling,” added Richard.

The protests organised by activist group Stop the War Coalition, alongside groups including the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), and Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSD), called for an end to military strikes in the region and for the UK government to halt its military support.

Iranian state media reported the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during the attacks, prompting Tehran to declare 40 days of national mourning and a seven-day public holiday, with all government offices and schools closed as the country prepares for funeral rites.

The United States and Israel launched a joint strike on Saturday, with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to ‘destroy Iran’s missiles.’

In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps said that ‘widespread missile and drone attacks’ against Israel were underway. US bases were also reportedly targeted in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait.

The developments follow three recent rounds of talks between Iranian and American officials, one held in Muscat and two in Geneva.

Russia, China, France, Bahrain and Colombia have called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, where members were divided between urging an immediate halt to hostilities and pressing Iran to abandon its nuclear programme.
