Iran Bridges Damaged In Strikes
Iranian media published footage on Friday showing bridges torn apart in Hormozgan Province, claiming they had been hit by US strikes.
Footage shows collapsed road sections and debris around the damaged crossings.
Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that “aggressive American attacks targeted 6 bridges in the city of Khamir in Hormozgan Province in southern Iran,” killing seven people and injuring nine.
The agency also cited a Health Ministry official as saying US attacks in July had killed 38 people and injured more than 400 across Iran.
US Strikes Military Targets
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its major wave of strikes on Thursday evening “hit dozens of Iranian military targets, including coastal surveillance sites, air defense, military logistics infrastructure, and naval capabilities.”
Washington did not specifically confirm striking the bridges. However, US President Donald Trump had warned days earlier that power stations and bridges could be targeted if Iran does not come to the negotiating table.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it responded with missile and drone attacks on “American bases in Qatar, Kuwait, Syria and Jordan.”
Fighting Between US And Iran
This follows a fresh surge in fighting between Washington and Tehran. The US has carried out days of strikes on sites across Iran, while Tehran has responded by targeting US bases in the region.
Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17 that included a ceasefire and opened a first round of negotiations in Switzerland towards a final agreement.
The two sides later accused each other of violating its terms.
