Trump Troop Warning
Donald Trump warned he would ‘probably’ pull troops out of Germany, Spain and Italy – saying NATO had been ‘absolutely horrible’ – as he spoke with reporters in DC on Thursday.
“You talked about possibly pulling out some troops out of Germany. Would you be considering the same thing for Spain and Italy? I mean, they haven’t been exactly on board,” a reporter put to him.

“Yeah, probably. Yeah, I probably will. Why should I? You know, look, why shouldn’t I? Italy has not been of any help to us. And Spain has been horrible, absolutely horrible. You know, it’s NATO… and we helped them with Ukraine.”
Germany Deployment Review
Trump has suggested he could pull US troops out of Germany, saying he was ‘studying and reviewing’ the deployment, amid an ongoing row with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in particular.
Clash With Merz
The US leader accused Merz of doing a ‘terrible’ job in his own country, and of ‘interfering’ in efforts to get an Iran deal.

On Monday, the German chancellor claimed Trump had been ‘humiliated’ by Iran’s negotiators. Trump has repeatedly slammed his NATO ‘allies’ for failing to help him in the Iran war.
