Security Footage Released
The US Department of Justice released a new video of the Washington Hilton shooting incident on Thursday, showing the alleged shooter, Cole Allen, storming the security checkpoint outside the banquet hall hosting the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington DC.

Footage shows Allen, wearing a black trench coat, emerging from a door and storming through the security checkpoint, which was being dismantled. United States Secret Service officers can be seen pointing guns at the shooter and following him.
Suspect’s Prior Movements
The video also captures events from the day before the incident. On April 24, Allen can be seen inspecting the hotel, walking to the gym where he speaks with a staff member, returning to his room, and walking to the gym again without entering.
Court Charges Filed
Allen was arraigned before a federal court in Washington DC on Thursday. The 31-year-old teacher from California is facing three federal charges: attempted assassination of the president of the United States, interstate transportation of a firearm, and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Investigation Ongoing
The Department of Justice stated that more charges could be added later in the investigation.

The DOJ called the incident an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, claiming that the suspect intended to “bring down as many of the high-ranking cabinet officials as he could.”
