Strike Footage Released

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday released footage it said showed strikes on Iranian targets, after accusing Tehran of breaching an ongoing ceasefire with an attack on a commercial vessel near the Strait of Hormuz.

The video shows plumes of smoke rising from the strike area. The exact date and location of the footage released by CENTCOM could not be independently verified.

CENTCOM described the strikes as a ‘powerful response’ to what it said was an Iranian drone attack on the Singapore-flagged M/V Ever Lovely on Thursday, as it transited the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman.

Ceasefire Dispute

“US aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites after Iran hit M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 with a one-way attack drone,” it posted on X (formerly Twitter).

CENTCOM said the ‘unwarranted aggression clearly violated the ceasefire’ and undermined freedom of navigation. The vessel reportedly sustained minor damage.

According to Iranian media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had ‘repelled’ a US attack on Sirik in southern Iran, warning that any further action ‘will be met with a harsh response’.

Tensions Continue

The strikes came days after Washington and Tehran signed a June 17 memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire. Israel said it was not part of the agreement and has continued strikes on Lebanon, prompting renewed Iranian warnings over the Strait of Hormuz.
